Evaluation of the Specific Capacitance of High-Entropy Oxide-Based Electrode Materials in View of Their Use for Water Desalination via Capacitive Method

Water pollution and scarcity are serious concerns for the growing world population. To meet ever-pressing demand of fresh water, a variety desalting techniques seawater have been developed. Due to its environmental friendliness, high efficiency, easy regeneration electrodes, ambient operating pressure, low potential suitable use in remote areas, capacitive deionization (CDI) method is one most sustainable among them. This work focuses on preparation high-entropy oxides (HEOs) carbon/HEO composites evaluation their specific capacitance view possible as CDI electrode materials. CrMnFeCoNi-HEO, having spinel structure (sHEO), obtained form nanoparticles (NPs) nanofibers (NFs) by sol–gel electrospinning, respectively. Composite NFs with embedded sHEO NPs or MgCoNiCuZn-HEO rock-salt (rHEO) also produced. In 5–100 mV s−1 scan rate range, improves order C/rHEO (8–32 F g−1) ≅ (9–32 < (8–43 C/sHEO (12–66 g−1). The highest when beneficial contributions carbon matrix smaller-sized HEO synergistically coupled.
